January 17-18th
Albany Academy and FTC Team 4809 will be hosting the 11th Annual Excelsior FTC Albany Academy Qualifying Tournament on Saturday, Jan 17, 2026, and the Annual Hudson Valley FLL Albany Academy Qualifying Tournament. 28 teams teams are expected to attend the FTC tournament, while 20 teams are expected to attend the FLL tournament.Albany Academy Lower / Middle School Building

What is FTC?
FTC, or FIRST Tech Challenge, is a global robotics competition for students aged 12-18. It is part of the broader FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) organization, which aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
What is FLL?
FLL, also known as FIRST Lego League is a global STEM program for children ages 4-16 that gets children excited and involved in science and engineering with fun Lego themed team challenges. There are three divisions: Discover, Explore, and Challenge, with each becoming more advanced and more like problem-solving in the real world. It is also part of the broader organization of FIRST.
